The
role that Histamine plays as an agent is our antibacterial, antiviral,
anti-foreign agent defence systems is well known (or at least its
nemeses, anti-histamine tablets and creams are). However, it also
acts as a sensor regulator of water metabolism and its distribution
in the body. When the body is short of water, it increases the production
of the neurotransmitter histamine. It is well recognised that people
suffering from asthma and other allergic reactions have increased
amounts of histamine within their body tissues. At a normal level
of water content in the body, these defence systems are maintained
