How to Fix It

Repair Kit SP-2

  1. Unscrew spout.
  2. Remove handle.
  3. Unscrew T bar.
  4. Unscrew retainer (use screwdriver adapter).
  5. Remove sub-assembly (match old sub-assembly to new one, type 1 or type 2).
  6. Insert new sub-assembly (use oil or vaseline).
  7. Re-assemble.
  8. Retainer must be flush with surface as shown.

IMPORTANT: The black handle must be loose.

Replacing Clapper Valves

  1. Remove top cover.
  2. Isolate softener by closing both inlet and outlet valves.
  3. Remove camshaft - undo white nut (22f) at rear of camshaft - withdraw camshaft to left.
  4. Remove timer - bottom left hand corner of the timer face there is a white flag, this is a locking pin, pull it out, release power cable clip and slide timer vertically upwards.
  5. De-pressurise the softener - VERY IMPORTANT!!
Manually operate the two rear valves (6) by pushing the vertical metal plates to the right (see 6) you will hear the softener de-pressurise.
  6. Unhook return springs - you will see 7 vertical metal plates with stainless steel flat springs, detach with a small screwdriver, unhook the springs from the metal plates, leave them connected to the valve top plate.
  7. Remove top plate - you will see 11 cross-head screws - undo them, vertically withdraw the valve top plate.
  8. Remove valve flaps.

REFITTING IS THE REVERSE OF STEPS 1 TO 8

NOTES

  1. Spread silicone grease on underside of valve flap top, fit flaps, they will only fit one way.
  2. Don’t over tighten the 11 cross head screws and take care not to cross thread.
  3. On the front of the camshaft you will see an offset lug; this prevents the camshaft being fitted the wrong way round. Engage this lug into the white/black plastic drive on the rear of the timer - from the left hand side only - swing the rear of the camshaft round to line up with the rear lock nut, do this nut up hand tight only.
  4. Finally - slowly turn back on the inlet and outlet valves - CHECK FOR LEAKS!!

Poor flow on ceramic cartridge

  1. Open the line fountain tap by raising the leaver and leave open.
  2. Turn off the water by closing the line piercing valve.
  3. Unscrew the housing(s). It is a standard thread, however if unsure of the direction to turn the headworks and body, try a jam jar first. Imagine the lid of the jar as the head works and the jar as the body.
  4. Remove the slow cartridge by unscrewing the cartridge from the head works.
  5. Clean ceramic part of cartridge with a scrubbing brush or scourer to remove sediment.
  6. Replace the cleaned cartridge by screwing the cartridge into the headworks until a resistance is felt against the cartridge washer.
  7. Screw together the housing(s), do not over tighten (hand tight is adequate.)
  8. Turn on the line piercing valve and run the water for a few minutes. Adjust the flow rate for the optimum for performance to 1 pint every 24 seconds for the 1000 model (2 pints per minute for the FW2000 Model).
  9. Close the fountain tap, the unit is now ready for use.

If the slow flow persists this is probably because your cartridge needs replacing or because of low pressure. Please contact us on 0870 442 3633 for advice.
